Ever have “one of those Sundays”? Here’s what I did.
I started out early, bringing my daughter to a tennis tournament she’s participating in. Usually, when I have a good start to the day, the rest of the day follows in the same vein.
But, for some reason, when I got back, I started getting into a slump. I felt restless and aimless, and the chaos in the house didn’t help. Many parents will relate to the added chaos that happens in the home during weekends. It's a happy chaos, but it is chaos.
The day before, I had received a batch of small watercolour papers, and I was excited to try it out. There’s nothing like having something new to get me going. I had just finished pruning my tomato plants, and so with that at the top of my head, I figured that painting one of my plants would be a good way to process that activity.

I enjoyed the simplicity of the subject matter—I only needed to use two shades of green, some red and yellow blends, and plain yellow for the flowers.

So that’s what I did with “one of those Sundays”. I’m fortunate enough to have a creative and hands-on outlet to release any stress or chaotic feelings I may have. The digital “zombie scroll” never works and ends up making me feel a lot worse about how I spent my time.
What do you do when you’re feeling aimless?
